Paramount Studios writer's internship

My teleplay, "Exile of Time," won me a six-week internship with Star Trek: The Next Generation. Reporting directly to executive producers Michael Piller and Jeri Taylor, I worked with the writing staff - Ron Moore, Brannon Braga, Rene Echevarria, and Naren Shankar - developing the final episodes of TNG.

My job included reading dozens of scripts from the TNG slush pile and meeting weekly with Piller (currently co-creator and Executive Producer of The Dead Zone and Wildfire) over possible acquisitions. On my recommendation, he bought the spec script that became the Deep Space Nine episode "Destiny."

As a result of my internship, I also spent six years writing for print and online about every aspect of television and film production via Trek. I interviewed dozens of actors, directors, and producers. I also interviewed editors, technicians, makeup, hair, and props masters, spending considerable time on both the Paramount lot, studio backlot and feature film locations.
